An Argos store in Romford has closed permanently as part of new plans for the retail chain.
The store, at Gallows Corner Retail Park in Colchester Road, shut on Saturday (March 2).
A spokesperson for Sainsbury’s, which owns Argos, said it is reducing the number of standalone Argos stores they operate while opening more such stores and collection points within Sainsbury’s stores, as they transform the brand to offer more “convenient” ways to shop.

They added: “As part of this plan, and regular reviews of our property estate, we made the difficult decision to close our Romford Gallows Corner Argos store last week."
The decision to close any store, the spokesperson said, is based on a range of factors.
Argos customers can still continue to shop in the Sainsbury’s outlet in the Brewery.
The Recorder asked Sainsbury’s for its response on the future plans for the site but has not received a response.
