West Ham's Jarrod Bowen presents award at Queen's Hospital

Callum Oubridge, a lifelong Hammers fan and a season ticket holder, received the news of his award from first-team player Jarrod Bowen at his workplace at Queen’s Hospital in Romford.

He earned his title as part of the Premier League's ‘More Than A Game’ campaign that will be visible at all Premier League matches until February 26.

The campaign aims to highlight how the club's community programmes impact millions of lives.

Mr Oubridge was nominated for his dedication as the education centre supervisor at the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT).

He has established a men’s health network that aims to boost male mental and physical wellbeing.

Mr Oubridge said: "I'm very proud and honoured to have been nominated for this award.

"The men’s health network launched in December, so it’s still quite new, but it’s something I’m very passionate about and it continues to go from strength to strength."

Callum said the primary aim of the network is to foster a positive and safe environment for men through regular, all-ability football sessions which currently have more than 50 members.

He added: "I’m still trying to process everything. It was very surreal, but just amazing.

"It also serves as a big motivation to keep going and make the men’s health network as successful as possible."

West Ham United have previously collaborated with BHRUT, from hosting staff members at games during the pandemic to conducting player visits to the hospital.

The club has also supported Callum's venture by supplying footballs for his sessions.

Jarrod Bowen said: "It’s been amazing getting to know Callum’s story.

"His work fits into the messages we try to convey as a family club at West Ham, and I’m proud that he has been chosen for this award.

"When you hear stories like Callum’s you realise how crucial it is that the Premier League and its clubs continue all their hard work off the pitch as well as on it."
