Forensics investigators have arrived at the scene of a 17-year-old’s fatal stabbing in Hackney.
A police tent has been set up in Shoreditch and Hackney Road has been closed both ways between Queensbridge Road and Shoreditch High Street following the murder.
The incident came to light last night after police were called at 10.53pm to Hackney Road and they found the boy with stab injuries.
London Ambulance Service attended, but the boy died at the scene.
A post mortem examination and a formal identification of the body is yet to take place, but the Metropolitan Police said the boy’s family have been informed.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, who leads policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, revealed that the police have launched a probe into his death.
Additional patrols will be seen in Shoreditch while police collect forensic evidence, he added.
DCI Conway urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
Witnesses can call the police on 101 citing reference 7553/17Feb.
Information can be sent anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
