A man has been arrested after a crash near a leisure centre which left two people seriously injured.
Essex Police were called to reports of a crash involving a black Volkswagen Golf and a blue BMW in Doddinghurst Road near the Brentwood Centre at 7.35pm on Friday (February 2).
The BMW driver was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said a 36 year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision has been released on bail to February 7.
The Volkswagen driver was taken to hospital with injuries, police added.
Another man and a woman were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Doddinghurst Road was closed while police investigated and recovered the vehicles.
It was reopened just before 3am on Saturday (February 3).
