A man has been taken to a major trauma centre after a car crash during a police chase in Rainham last night.
The Met Police said a car crashed with a pedestrian in New Road at around 9pm, just after it had authorised a pursuit.
It came after officers had asked the car to stop and the driver did not do so, a police spokesperson said.
The injured man was taken to hospital and is "in a serious but stable" condition.
Police are trying to trace the driver and passengers of the car.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) said it was called at 9.12pm yesterday (January 22) to reports of a car crash in New Road, Rainham.
LAS found an injured man and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority after London's Air Ambulance was dispatched.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) also attended the scene after being called at 9.17pm.
