A retailer in Romford has received the lowest food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for the second time in a row.
African Food (Shopping Mall & Afro Supermarket) in High Street was rated 'zero' by inspectors after their latest visit on November 28.
The outlet was also given a 'zero' score in June last year.
In the recent inspection, the FSA highlighted that the retailer’s management of food safety - which involves having a system in place to ensure that the food sold is safe to eat - needs “urgent improvement”.

Its cleanliness and condition of facilities, including having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, to enable food hygiene were said to require “major improvement”.
The hygienic handling of food also needed improving, according to inspectors.
The rating is not a guide to food quality.
