Three women have been arrested after reports of shoppers being assaulted in a town centre.

The incident happened in the Liberty Shopping Centre at around 1.25pm yesterday (December 27) when four women reported being approached by three older females who asked them for money.

The Metropolitan Police said upon refusal, the suspects became “verbally aggressive” leading to assaulting victims.

Three women have since been arrested and detained.

This comes after a spate of attempted robberies in Romford and other areas around Christmas days.

An attempted burglary on Poplar Road on December 23 was reportedly thwarted after the intended victim’s dogs started to bark.

There was a failed theft of a silver Daihatsu Charagdel parked in Brentwood Road on December 23. Police said the suspect fled the scene after a neighbour intervened.

Similarly, a householder in Rosslyn Avenue, Harold Wood, called the police after two hooded men wearing masks allegedly tried to break into their home just before 5 am on December 26.
