A 52-year-old man faces a murder trial following the death of his partner 13 years after an assault left her with permanent brain damage.
Carolyn Kemp was 34 in November 2009 when she was assaulted by Trevor Baker on Walmer Close in Romford.
The following year Baker admitted to attempted murder and was jailed for 16 years.
Ms Kempt died on September 27 last year, allegedly as a result of the injury she suffered in Baker’s attack.
Baker has now been charged with her murder and on Wednesday (December 20) he appeared at the Old Bailey.
Appearing via a video link from HMP Warren Hill in Suffolk, Baker spoke to confirm his name.
Judge Anthony Leonard KC set a provisional two-week trial for October 7 next year with a plea and trial preparation hearing on March 6.
The defendant was remanded back into custody.
