A Sainsbury's Local store has opened as part of a major new housing scheme.
The supermarket giant today (November 21) announced the launch of the new outlet in The Square in Beam Park, Rainham.
Beam Park's Sainsbury's Local, which runs from 7am until 11pm weekly, opened on Friday (November 17).
Store manager Zeiban Shaffi said: “It’s fantastic to be up and running in Beam Park after months of working together to get our new store ready for customers.
"I’m really proud of my new team for helping us to get off to a flying start and we’re looking forward to serving the local community."
The 2,863 sq ft store sits in the The Square, a public space in the Beam Park regeneration project, which aims to deliver 3,000 homes.
There is a click and collect service in the Sainsbury's, allowing people to order online from Argos, Habitat and Tu clothing brands.
The Beam Park Sainsbury's has said it will redistribute unsold food via its partnership with community investment platform Neighbourly.
