An operator is set to run new trains on one of its routes through east London on Saturdays, it has been announced.

A new series of five-car “720” unit trains will be used for many services on c2c's Ockendon line, which runs through Upminster and Barking, on Saturdays.

c2c also announced it is making service alterations to its timetable next month.

Two new trains will be added from Leigh-on-Sea to Fenchurch Street at 7.21am and 7.37am on Mondays to Fridays from December 10. These will both stop at West Ham, Limehouse and Fenchurch Street.

The 4.48pm Pitsea to Fenchurch Street weekday service will additionally call at West Ham from the same day.

c2c managing director, Rob Mullen, said: “We continue to monitor customer levels and we will strengthen our services wherever we are able."
