A branch of a major discount chain in Romford has “closing down” signs on its shopfront.
Poundstretcher, in High Street, has the posters all over its front, offering discounts to clear the existing stock.
The chain sells the likes of groceries, kitchen appliances and electrical goods at discount prices.
A staff member at the Romford store told the Recorder that while they do not know a closing date yet, they might remain open until end of this year.

The 'closing down' posters come despite reports earlier this year that the brand was planning to open 50 new stores by the end of 2023.
The Recorder has contacted Poundstretcher for more details about the future of the Romford store.
