An educational trust is planning to set up a new primary school in Beam Park and is consulting on its proposal.

The Emmanuel School Trust is proposing to open the school within the Beam Park development in Rainham, which is earmarked to deliver thousands of homes but has been it by uncertainty surrounding a new station.

The trust said it intends to enter into a funding agreement with the government and is working with Havering Council and Department for Education to achieve this.

It aims to open The Emmanuel Community School next September 2024 and will have 420 spaces for pupils between four and 11.

A 30-place nursery and specialist additional provision for 12 pupils with an Education Health Care Plan, are also included in the plans.

The faith-based multi-academy trust claimed that the school aims to offer “outstanding and broad-based education” to make a “very positive impact” in the area.

It runs the Emmanuel Community School in Walthamstow that was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in 2017.

The school in Beam Park, it said, will be a hub for the community with the curriculum including environmental projects.

“The vision for Emmanuel Community School Beam Park is to provide excellent education and establish high standards of literacy and numeracy”, it added.

Being a non-selective school that reflects the ethnic diversity of the local community, the trust said it will welcome pupils of all faiths and no faith.

It has invited people to share their views on the plan via a public consultation that runs until December 17.
