A fire that started in a skip has damaged part of a commercial building in Dagenham. 

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called at 10.03pm on November 7 to a fire in Becontree Avenue, Dagenham. 

The fire was put out by the crews by 11.16pm.

Photos posted on social media appear to show firefighters outside the former Becontree Furniture shop.

A spokesperson for LFB said: "A skip was destroyed by fire. The fire also spread from the skip to the external canopy of a commercial building, damaging half of the canopy.

"There were no reports of any injuries.

"Two fire engines from Dagenham Fire Station attended the scene."
