We asked Recorder readers to choose their favourite hairdresser and the results are in.

Our award, "Your Favourites 2023", celebrates the best independent businesses and Magic Touch Hairdressing in Ripple Road, Barking, was the recipient of Best Hairdresser.

Owner Maciej Sosnowski said it was a "dream come true" for his family-run business, co-founded by him and his mother in 2007.

"We feel extremely privileged and grateful to the customers who have taken their time to vote for us and our services.

"Seeing our customers happy makes us happy and pushes us further to do what we love the most," he added.

Magic Touch is a unisex salon and Maciej believes his business has made connections with people in the area, especially the elderly, by providing a space where someone is willing to listen to them.

"We treasure our regular customers and welcome anybody and everybody," Maciej added.
