A teenage boy has been arrested after a firework was allegedly set off in a parked vehicle.
On Saturday (November 4) Essex Police arrested a boy, 16, on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with an arson investigation in Brentwood.
Police had received a report of a firework set off in a vehicle in Rayleigh Road, Brentwood, on October 14.
The force said two cars and a nearby property were damaged.
Ch Insp Tina Cooper added: "This was a dangerous incident which caused a lot of damage and could have seriously injured someone."
The boy remains in custody and police said they are no longer looking to identify someone in connection with the incident.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and we would like to thank the members of the public who have supported with this investigation so far,” Ch Insp Cooper added.
