A woman was taken to hospital “as a priority” after eyewitnesses claim she fell backwards on a store’s escalator.
Emergency services were called to Primark in Romford’s South Street this morning at around 10.15am and an area outside was cordoned off.
London Ambulance Service deployed an advanced paramedic, a medic in a fast-response car, and an ambulance crew to the scene.
They treated a woman at the scene before rushing her to hospital urgently.

A spokesperson from the store has said that they are “working closely with the police” and “doing all they can” to support with “ongoing enquiries”.
She said the store will remain closed in the meantime.
She added: “Our thoughts are with the customer following an incident in our Romford store on Wednesday morning."
A passer by told the Recorder that the woman’s hair was caught in the escalator. A reader who saw the incident has claimed that she fell backwards 4 to 5 steps.
A police cordon is still in place outside the store. Further details on the woman’s condition are awaited.
