A post office which recently had its owners retire after 41 years has reopened with a new couple at the helm.
Romford Post Office in Victoria Road welcomed back customers on Wednesday (September 13) after renovation works undertaken by incoming postmaster Prakash Thavarajah and his wife Maithily Mahendran.
This comes after former postmaster Manharlal Patel, 81, and his wife Vimla retired after more than four decades in charge.
Manharlal and Vimla, who ran the post office from 1982 to 2023, had their final day on August 21.
"I know everyone in this community after being here so long and you enjoy chats with the customers," Manharlal previously said.

"I remember mums coming in with their children to collect their family allowance and now those children have grown up and they have children of their own," he added.
A convenience store has also been added to the updated premises after the three-week renovation.
