The Ultra Low Emission Standards Zone (ULEZ) was created by London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL).
The zone is set to help battle the region's toxic air, as TfL shares: "Poor air quality, mainly caused by polluting vehicles, is impacting the health of Londoners".
Now TfL and Khan are hoping that the ULEZ will decrease air pollution in London by cutting the number of vehicles that do not meet emission standards.
Since it was first announced that it would cover all of Greater London, it has received mixed reviews, with many disagreeing with the daily charge of £12.50 for non-compliant vehicles.
Others are backing the ULEZ and hope that it will help improve London's air quality.
Our ULEZ scrappage scheme has been massively expanded so that every London resident affected by ULEZ can apply from today 👇🏾

👨🏼💼 Every London resident can apply for a grant of up to £2,000 to scrap their non-compliant car
🧑🏾🔧 Small businesses and sole traders will be able to…
TfL and Mayor Khan created the ULEZ scrappage scheme to help all Londoners with the new charge by offering grants to get compliant vehicles.
What are the operating hours for the ULEZ in London?
The ULEZ operates for 24 hours every day of the year apart from Christmas Day (25 December).
The charge for all vehicles in the ULEZ is £12.50 a day and if you do not pay the fee, you could end up with a penalty.
TfL will be charging Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) for drivers entering the ULEZ that do not meet standards and do not pay the correct daily charge.
The penalty charge is the same for all vehicle types, with a set rate of £180 or £90 if paid within 14 days.
Both UK and non-UK-registered vehicles can get PCNs and you could get separate PCNs for each day driving with the ULEZ.
You can find out more information via the TfL website.
