Transport for London (TfL) has officially opened the Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) scrappage scheme to all Londoners with non-compliant vehicles.
The scheme is in aid to help those with non-complaint vehicles apply for grants so they can scrap their older, polluting car or motorcycle.
It was launched following London Mayor Sadiq Khan's ULEZ expansion that will see all of Greater London covered by the zone from August 29.
In order to avoid the daily charge of £12.50, vehicles much meet emission standards.
ULEZ scrappage scheme open to all Londoners
Originally, the scrappage scheme was just open to low-income, disabled Londoners, sole traders, micro-businesses and charities in the region to help them transition to less-polluting vehicles.
In July, the scheme was then opened to families receiving child benefits and certain businesses before it was confirmed that all Londoners could apply following added funding.
From today, every Londoner with a non-ULEZ-compliant car can apply for support to scrap or retrofit it.

TfL has shared that the team overseeing the scrappage scheme are processing applications with encouragement for those with non-complaint vehicles to apply as soon as possible.
How to apply for the ULEZ scrappage scheme
If you apply for the ULEZ scrappage scheme, you can get from £2,000 for scrapping a car to £1,000 for motorcycles.
There is also an option for larger vehicles, with a higher-value package of up to two bus and tram passes plus a lower grant.
Wheelchair-accessible vehicles have received an increased grant, from £5,000 to £10,000 to scrap vehicles or £6,000 to retrofit to achieve emission standards.
Small businesses and charities applying now will also receive increased grant payments of between £6,000 and £11,500.
You can apply via the TfL website here.
My decision to expand the ULEZ wasn’t easy, but it’s a decision I remain committed to. Cleaning up our toxic air cannot wait.

That’s why today I’m announcing that £2k will be available to all Londoners with non-compliant cars to switch to greener, less-polluting vehicles. 🧵 pic.twitter.com/40T2c2vSao
Discussing the ULEZ expansion, Mayor Khan said: "The decision to expand the Ultra Low Emission Zone London-wide was not an easy one for me to make, but it is necessary to reduce toxic air pollution, protect the health of Londoners and help tackle the climate emergency.
“I have continued to listen to the concerns of Londoners, and that’s why I’ve introduced the biggest vehicle scrappage scheme ever seen in the UK. Every single Londoner with a non-compliant car and motorbike is now eligible to get support. We are doing this without a penny of support from the Government who have helped other cities around the country with their clean air zones.
“There’s still plenty of money available in the scrappage scheme and, with one week to go until the ULEZ is expanded, I am urging all Londoners with non-compliant vehicles to apply now."
