Victoria Park music festival All Points East has announced the line up for its free community-focussed festival In The NBHD.

Sandwiched between the music festival’s two weekends of stellar music including Stormzy’s This Is What We Mean Day, The Strokes, Amyl and the Sniffers and HAIM, In The NBHD is a four day, family-friendly programme of music, culture, wellbeing activities and sports.

Running between Sunday, August 20 and Wednesday August 23 and produced in collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council, the festival will host an outdoor cinema which will screen new releases such as Air, Rye Lane and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as well as documentaries and hits of the past such as He Named Me Malala, I Am Bolt and Yesterday. Cinema goers are welcome to bring a picnic to the screening.

Gigs, such as Paul Simon’s Graceland presented by the LDN African Gospel Choir, Europe’s biggest Bollywood dance company Bollyflex and the orchestral Hackney Proms, are also on the bill, as are mental health VR experiences designed to help you unwind and refresh.

Running Monday August 21 to Wednesday August 23, Eat Club workshops will enable young people to eat wholesome, healthy food while celebrating Tower Hamlet’s food culture. These workshops will also teach youngsters how to produce food content through video and photography.

West Ham FC will host football sessions for everyone to join in, while Girls Allowed sessions are for girls under 16 who want to burn off energy through a mix of traditional and non-traditional sports while a DJ plays bangers in the background.

There’s also Pilates, HIIT, dance, aerobics and meditation classes as well as wellbeing events for mums and babies.

Tamarind Theatre Company will put on theatre workshops, as well Mukul and Ghetto Tigers. For tiny tots storytelling sessions, try Adventure Babies: Sensory experiences, or learn about Somali culture through Queen of Sheeba: Somali Dance, Storytelling, Arts and Crafts.

School of Noise workshops will explore the science of sound as participants craft an instrument out of vegetables and create new compositions, and social choir Some voices will host a sing-a-long of pop’s biggest hits.
