A man has died after a flat fire and police are investigating the cause.
The man, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze in Newport Avenue, Plaistow, this morning (July 10).
Police were called to the flat at 5.23am today by the London Fire Brigade.
LFB had the fire under control by 6.36am and crews from Plaistow, East Ham and Poplar fire station attended.
The man's next of kin have been informed, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and the Met Police.
