A fishmonger of 30 years said he was "disgusted" after his Upminster store had its back door smashed in.
Fishy Business, a fishmonger on Corbets Tey Road in Upminster, was targeted by burglars last Sunday (June 11) at 5.30pm, according to the owner Terry Murphy.
Police confirmed today (June 23) that there had been at least two burglaries that day in Corbets Tey Road, one at a shop and another at a takeaway.
Terry, who has nearly 30 years’ fishmonger experience, voiced his anger towards the burglars who he said cost him £500 insurance excess, with £2,000 required to fix the back door and freezer, which he said had been vandalised.
“I’m just really disgusted,” he said. “They knocked over the gate and used something in the yard as a battering ram to smash the back door in.
"The back door was completely smashed off its hinges."

The burglars ran off empty-handed after a neighbour alerted Terry, he said.
Terry added that he was confused why burglars would target a fishmonger and said he hoped those responsible would be caught and prosecuted.
