London Fire Brigade has not said whether there have been any injuries.
The fire destroyed all of the loft conversion in the house and a “significant” part of the roof, the brigade said.
Fire crews from Romford, Dagenham and Hornchurch fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and will be investigated.
The incident comes two days after another house fire on Crow Lane in Romford where people were heard “screaming and shouting”.
