A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with a house fire in Romford.
Several people left a property in Crow Lane yesterday (June 20) before firefighters arrived.
Four fire engines and 25 firefighters went to the two-storey house, having received eight calls at around 10.47pm.
Caroline Coyle, a parent, posted in a Dagenham community group on Facebook yesterday: “Hope everyone is okay there’s a house on fire down Crow Lane.”
Emily Jayne, a commenter, added: “Sounds like it, we heard screaming and shouting.”
In just over half an hour at 11.20pm, crews had the blaze under control.
The fire damaged part of the terraced house's first floor, but there were no reported injuries.
Crews from Romford, Hornchurch, Dagenham and Ilford fire stations attended the scene.
The London Fire Brigade said it is investigating the cause of the fire with the Metropolitan Police.
A Met spokesperson said: "A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the fire and was taken to an east London police station where he remains."
Their enquiries are ongoing and officers asked any witnesses to call police on 101, providing the reference 9366/22JUNE23.
