A 22-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being shot in Walthamstow.
Emergency services were called at around 10.45pm last night, (June 17), to shots fired in Blackhorse Lane.
Police officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.
A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital where his condition has been assessed as critical, Scotland Yard said.
Detectives from the Met's specialist crime unit are investigating supported by colleagues from the North East Command unit.
Cordons are in place in and around Blackhorse Lane as forensic examination of the scene continues.
There have been no arrests at this early stage.
Following the shooting, a Section 60 was authorised to help officers as they work to keep people in Walthamstow safe.
The order gives police more powers to stop and search people and will be in force until midday today.
Additional officers are in the area.
