A Japanese restaurant chain could be set to open up a branch in Romford.
A planning application on behalf of Marugame Udon has been sent to Havering Council to use units 8 and 8C of the Brewery shopping centre as a restaurant - in addition to the existing retail use.
It is proposed to span more than 1,880 square metres and the floorspace would be reconfigured for the restaurant.
Building works, the application said, is expected to commence from August this year.
If approved, it would add to the food offering of the shopping centre, which hosts the likes of Nando's, Pizza Express and McDonald's.
The proposed Romford eatery would be the 13th branch of Marugame Udon in the country.
Time Out reported that the chain was founded in Japan in 2000 and set up its first branch in London on Liverpool Street in 2021.
A decision on the planning application is expected to be taken by August 1.
Detailed plans for the restaurant can be found on the council website entering reference – P0840.23.
