A murder probe has launched after a woman was found dead in a block of flats.
A man, 48, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found inside a flat in Old Church Gardens, Romford, on Monday (May 22).
Police were called at 10.11pm to concerns for the welfare of a woman at the address.
Emergency services found a woman, 43, dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed, the Metropolitan Police have said.
A spokesperson said that the death is being treated as unexpected and detectives are carrying out further enquiries to establish the circumstances.
The suspect and victim are believed to be known each other and he currently remains in custody at an east London police station.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
