Police say they arrested four people after “a number of wraps” of Class A drugs were seized in Romford town centre.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police's violence suppression unit were on routine patrol in Angel Way on May 13 when they stopped the driver of a blue Ford Focus for enquiry. The police had reports that the car was involved in a crime in Essex earlier.
Officers found large quantities of Class A drugs with over £600 in cash in the car.
Four people, all aged between 20 and 39, were arrested.
A spokesperson for Havering police said drugs and cash were also found at a nearby address following further searches.
Updates on whether there were any charges are still awaited.
The incident comes after three people were arrested on suspicion of drug offences after they were seen with “a large quantity of cannabis” in Romford on March 3, 2023.
