Plans to build six chalet bungalows on green belt land in Havering-atte-Bower have been submitted for approval.
The development would make use of land to the north of 1 Pinewood Road, where a home and 15 buildings used as commercial units currently stand.
Planning documents submitted to Havering Council suggest that each bungalow would comprise of five bedrooms and have habitable roof space, as well as parking facilities.
The application is a re-submission of plans previously approved by the authority in 2020, with the addition of bay windows on the ground floor of all the proposed homes.
Supporting statements submitted with the latest plans reference the Secretary of State for Housing’s decision in 2018 to allow development on the site.
In that judgment, the secretary of state said: “I find that the replacement of a previously developed commercial use with residential use proposed would not result in harm to the character and appearance of this part of the green belt."
The ground floor of the homes will contain two of the bedrooms, as well an open plan kitchen-diner with lounge space and two other reception rooms.
Comments about the proposals (reference P0333.23) can be made on the Havering Council planning portal. A decision on the application is expected by June 27.
