A man has been taken to hospital after a car reportedly crashed into a lamppost in Upminster.
Front Lane in Cranham was blocked by police at 4.40pm today, said Peter Watt, a resident.
A photograph appears to show a lamppost brought down and damage to a nearby front garden.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.20pm today (15 May) to reports of a collision in Front Lane, Upminster.
"We treated a man at the scene before taking him to hospital."
A Met Police spokesperson said it seems the car crashed into a lamppost and the driver appears to be injured, but no-one else seems to be hurt.
According to the AA, the road has been partially blocked and traffic queues have built up due to the crash on Front Lane, both ways around Plough Rise.
A detour is in operation and the 284 bus route has been affected, the AA added.
London Ambulance Service were approached for comment.
