A woman working at HMP Belmarsh has been arrested after allegedly kissing killer Jordan McSweeney.
The staff member is being investigated after allegations that she had a romantic relationship with McSweeney.
McSweeney, 29, is serving a life sentence for murdering, sexually assaulting and robbing 35-year-old Zara Aleena as she walked home from a bar in Ilford in June 2021.
Metropolitan Police said they received an allegation on April 6 relating to inappropriate conduct involving a serving member of staff at HMP Belmarsh.
On the same day officers arrested a woman on suspicion of misconduct in public office. She was then bailed until late July pending further enquiries.
The matter is being investigated by detectives and inquiries are ongoing.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice told The Sun an investigation is underway and there is zero tolerance of inappropriate relationships.
McSweeney, from Dagenham, was given a life sentence on December 14 at the Old Bailey where the court heard that his attack on Zara lasted for nine minutes.
Prosecutor Oliver Glasgow KC told the court: “Despite being only yards from a public street and from residential properties, the defendant attacked Zara Aleena with a savagery that is almost impossible to believe."
