Havering Council is to submit bids totalling more than £1.6million to the Greater London Authority (GLA) to fund two supported housing projects in Collier Row.
The funding is proposed towards the completion of eight homes for young people leaving care and six homes for adults with disabilities.
The council is seeking £960,000 from GLA’s Homes for Londoners: Affordable Housing Programme 2021-2026 to build supported housing in Mawney Close.
In January 2022, plans were put forward to demolish garages at the end of it and replace them with eight studio apartments for young people between the age of 18 and 24 leaving care.
The second bid, amounting to £720,000, is meant for building six homes in Mowbrays Close for adults with disabilities.
It proposes to use a housing fund administered by the GLA but that comes directly from the Department of Health and Social Care.

In 2017, disused garages on Mowbrays Close were meant to be redeveloped into four, two-storey semi-detached houses.
But the council reviewed the demand for supported housing in the borough and proposed to use the two sites to meet the needs of vulnerable people.
The two budgets are essentially a part of the same construction programme, that will be delivered by a single contractor once approved.
The main construction works on both projects is planned to begin in autumn 2023 and end by winter 2024.
