The headteacher of a special school due to open in September has spoken of how “delighted” she is to be taking on the new role.
Unity Romford School, which was granted approval by Havering Council in February 2022, will support up to 32 children with social, emotional and mental health needs when it opens its doors later this year.
When at full capacity, its numbers will increase to a total of 60 pupils aged seven to 16.
Catharine Wensley, headteacher at the new school, said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new headteacher of this much-needed special school for students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

“Opening a new school is a huge honour and it is wonderful to see the Unity Romford School coming to fruition. We look forward to welcoming children and their parents as they prepare to start here from September.”
Unity Romford School, in London Road, will be run by Unity Schools Partnership - a collection of schools also including St Edward’s Academy.
