A Havering school has been recognised for its work in promoting diversity and inclusion among its pupils.
The Royal Liberty School in Gidea Park received an excellence award from Learning Workz, a tool designed to aid schools in improving their diversity and inclusion.
The school was recognised for its efforts including initiatives such as having student voice panels discuss diversity at each of their meetings, each subject area having a display themed around diversity, and having a designated diversity lead as part of its staff body.

Learning Workz’s director, Anthony Peltier, visited the school to deliver the glass trophy, as well as speak with staff and students about the school’s work.
Lee Raftery, headteacher at The Royal Liberty, said: “It is wonderful to be acknowledged for the work we do around equality, diversity and inclusion.”
A spokesperson for the school added future plans include giving the prefect responsibility of leading on and promoting diversity, and achieving the diversity mark for education, also led by Learning Workz, by the end of this academic year.
