A Section 60 stop and search order has been made after a stabbing in Hornchurch.
Police are continuing to investigate a stabbing this morning (February 21) in Ardleigh Green Road, Hornchurch, near to New City College.
A male student, 18, was taken to hospital for treatment and his condition is no longer considered to be life-threatening after emergency services were called at 10.41am.
Now police will have additional powers across the entire RM11 postcode - covering areas in Hornchurch, Upminster and Emerson Park.
With these powers, officers will be able to stop and search anyone within the area without needing to have reasonable grounds.
The order has started from noon today (February 21) until midnight.

New City College was in "lockdown" today after reports of the off-site stabbing.
No arrests have been made at this early stage and anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD2318/21Feb.
