A college has said it is “devastated” after one of its students was taken to hospital after being stabbed earlier today.

The Met Police were called to Ardleigh Green Road at around 10.41am this morning to reports of an 18-year-old male who had been stabbed.

A police spokesperson said officers and the London Ambulance Service attended, with the male taken to hospital in a critical condition.

His condition is no longer believed to be life-threatening, they added.

No arrests have been made, though enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for New City College said: “We are devastated that one of our students was stabbed today in Ardleigh Green Road. The student was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“We immediately shut the campus for the safety of our students and lessons for the afternoon were cancelled. At this point our full focus is on the safety of our students and in particular for the victim and their family. We are doing everything we can to support them.
