The owner of a Hornchurch sewing company is returning with half-term sewing lessons as she hopes to inspire young people “who are happy to repair instead of throw away”.
Nichole Goodison runs Elasha Creations, teaching children how to sew from her base at Fairkytes Arts Centre in Hornchurch.
Passionate about the potential for sewing to develop essential skills for young people, Nichole’s workshops show her students how to make cushions, bags, purses and more, with all of the required equipment supplied.
Nichole said the aim of the workshops, which she is running this week, is to enable children “to express themselves through creativity and their own individual style”, as well as a way of developing “fine motor skills and patience”.
She added: “Sewing is also very enjoyable. Plus, we will have a future generation who are happy to repair instead of throw away.”
