Harold Hill people gathered to commemorate the nation’s war dead during a Remembrance Day service.
A procession from St George’s Church on Chippenham Road made its way to the war memorial on Sunday morning accompanied by a bagpiper.
A memorial service was then led by the Reverend Nathan Joss-Pothen, vicar of St George’s Church.
Denis O’Flynn, the former Mayor of Havering, gave a speech in front of attendees before the traditional playing of The Last Post.
Former Gooshays ward councillor Pat Murray blew a trench whistle used at the Battle of the Somme to signal the start of two minutes of silence.
Heaton Ward councillor Keith Darvill then lay a wreath on behalf of the Mayor of Havering to a bagpiper’s rendition of Flowers of the Forest.
Following a blessing, attendees returned to St George’s Church for a Remembrance Day service.
A wreath was also laid on behalf of Julia Lopez MP for Hornchurch & Upminster.
