A one-stop welfare support shop has opened its doors in Romford.
Officially unveiled on Friday (October 14), the hub represents a collaboration between partners including the Met Police, Havering Council, Network Rail and the Samaritans.
Those in Romford who need advice or support can stop by the space, next to the station on South Street, and speak to an appropriate personnel in the hub.
Representatives from the various organisations involved - including Amy Lane, the Mayor of London’s Night Czar - were at the opening.
Leader of Havering Council, Cllr Ray Morgon, said the new hub will be used “particularly for the night-time economy”.
The intention, he added, is to help “keep people safe at night”, with the protection of women a key priority.
The hub’s opening comes shortly after Havering Council agreed its next three-year Community Safety Partnership Plan, central to which was tackling violence against women and girls.
