A club is preparing for the outdoor bowling season ahead of its annual open day on May 4.
Steve Gildersleeve, groundsman of Brentwood Bowling Club has started mowing the bowling greens, desite slow grass growth at the King George’s playing fields.
Steve has been looking after bowling greens for 30 years and his experience tells him that they will be in good shape by the time the first woods are rolled up to the rinks.
The bowling areas will receive their first true test of the year on the open day, where the club will be welcoming would-be and aspiring bowlers to try the hand at the sport.
Club spokesman Les Powell said: “Our open day gives newcomers a chance to inspect our facilities and have a free trial session at bowling with guidance from some of our experienced players.”
