A Brentwood running club raised £1,700 for St Francis Hospice – three months later than planned.

The Thrift Green Trotters had organised a sponsored 10k race in July last year to raise cash for the hospice, based in Havering-atte-Bower.

But the notoriously wet summer saw the BNY Mellon Brentwood 10k postponed until October. The cash was finally presented to the hospice on Friday, June 7, by event organisers Ken Bench and Brian Harding.

“Ironically, the weather in October when we finally got the event on was much better than in July,” said Brian. “Thanks to Gosnay’s, Beresfords, Brentwood Leisure Trust, Fast Feet Sports Ltd and all of the Thrift Green Trotters committee, we were delighted to be able to raise all this money for the great work that the hospice does in Brentwood and the surrounding areas.”
