Film fans can enjoy a movie under the stars on their doorstep.

Ben Tillson, 31, and his friend Dan Leconber, 32, have organised an outdoor cinema event to take place in the grounds of Upminster Windmill in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster.

Ben said: “Upminster is a nice area, but there isn’t a lot for people to do there.

“It would be good if the area could get a reputation for its outdoor cinema and more cultural events because that would definitely encourage more people into the borough.”

He added: “This has the potential to really put Upminster on the map and to encourage more people into the borough.”

Audiences can look forward to seeing Skyfall on August 31 and the friends are hoping to put on a film to attract more women on September 21.

Ben, who lives in Westbury Terrace, is also encouraging people to bring their blankets and picnic things.

Audiences will be treated to live entertainment and music before the event.

Ben said: “It is a brilliant location because even with a screen, there is still going to lots of space for everyone.

“I am hoping that people are going to come along with their picnic things and sit outside and just ejoy the movie.”

Ben, who has lived in Upminster for six years, came up with the idea of the outdoor cinema after going to a similar event in London.

He says that he has been given lots of support from the community.

He added: “This is my first time putting on something like this, I have organised things for my friends’ weddings, but this is on such a large scale.

“Everyone has been really positive about it and lots of ladies have been asking me to put on a film for them.”
