Stubbers Outdoor Adventure Centre is set to welcome 4,000 visitors this summer after it was awarded a grant of more than £115,000.
The centre in Ockendon Road, Upminster has used the funds from the Veolia North Thames Trust (VNTT) to install CCTV cameras, security fencing and electronic gates.
Centre Manager, Bob Edwards, said: “We like to encourage people to view our excellent facilities and enjoy the location, but ensuring the ongoing security of our participating customers and their families is paramount. We were therefore delighted to receive funding from VNTT which has enabled us to maintain an ‘open’ policy whilst keeping safety uppermost”.
The centre has been providing outdoor education to families, schools and adults since 1996.
