Residents are set to stage a protest against council plans to sell off Upminster Park’s car park and the site of the Old Windmill Hall.
The Friends of Upminster Park are inviting people to join them in the protest just before a meeting at Havering Town Hall in Main Road, Romford to decide the fate of the park on Wednesday August 14 at 7pm,
As part of the proposals, the site and the adjoining land, which has been used as a car park since the ’90s, will be sold.
The residents fear that once sold the site could be used to build flats or houses.
Cllr Ron Ower said: “We are all against these plans.
“The car park is always in use and if the plans go ahead it will intensify the parking problems in the area.”
