McDonald’s customers can now sit back and relax while waiting for their Big Macs after the fast food giant announced it was introducing table service to one Havering store.

Visitors to the Harold Hill branch, Straight Road, can order their food from new digital kiosks and take a seat while staff bring it to them.

The restaurant has recently been revamped and was unveiled by Mayor of Havering, Cllr Brian Eagling.

McDonald’s franchisee Gerry Byrne, who runs the Harold Hill store, said: “We’re thrilled with the transformation because we’re committed to offering our customers’ more choice and fast service.

“Technology has a huge role to play in all walks of life, including our customers’ eating out experience, so the new technology we’ve introduced recognises the way people live their lives today.

“The addition of table service enables customers to order at the self-order kiosk and then sit down at a designated zone to get served. From mums coming in with their kids, to people having a working lunch, I expect the feedback to be positive.”

Table service was trailed at 14 restaurants across England last year and is now being introduced at more branches, alongside the traditional counter service.

The transformation of the Harold Hill store has also seen free to use tablets introduced at some tables so customers can check their emails or play games.

Mayor of Havering, Cllr Brian Eagling, said: “I am very happy to see the amazing transformation that has happened in the Harold Hill McDonald’s. The new technology and increased capacity for new business is great for the community and will no doubt give many more opportunities of employment to local people. I wish Gerry and his team the very best for what I’m sure will be a bright future.”
