A Lurcher Cross has found a loving home with a Romford family after spending nearly three years in the kennels.
For Lily, who has spent more than 934 days with the Dogs Trust Basildon, a ‘yappy’ ending seemed a long way off.
However, thanks to the hard work of volunteers, seven-year-old Lily has em‘bark’ed on a new chapter with Mr and Mrs Bishop.
In a bid to boost Lily’s appeal to potential adopters, the team launched a social media appeal last year asking dog lovers to donate an armchair and pouffe to create a home environment for Lily’s kennel.
Staff then doubled her kennel size, creating a home-from-home for Lily.
Mrs Bishop said: “Lily has settled in really well and we absolutely love her.
“She loves to sleep on my lap and is so at home, we couldn’t imagine our lives without her now.”
