One of London’s largest property developers has unveiled a huge new development in Roneo Corner that would deliver 234 new homes for Havering’s families and first time buyers.
Galliard Homes has today (Friday, May 18), revealed its proposals for the former Neopost House site which stands on the junction of South Street, Rom Valley Way and Hornchurch Road.
The new development, which would be built around a central shared garden area with green space and include a fully-equipped play area for under-5s, would consist of around 125 well-designed new one, two and three bedroom apartments, with 30 of these expected to be affordable homes.
A further 109 homes will be provided in the existing Neopost House, under existing permitted development rights.
In total 234 homes will be provided across the brownfield site, and Galliard hopes the finished development, should it be granted planning permission by Havering Council, would be “an attractive and vibrant place to live aimed at local people”.
According to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s London Plan, Havering is expected to deliver 1,875 new homes every year.
Michael J. Watson, Director at Galliard Homes, said: “We’re delighted to be sharing our plans with the local community and look forward to hearing people’s feedback.
“Everyone knows we’re experiencing a housing crisis and need to be building more homes.
“These plans will do exactly that, providing local people with a range of homes while also regenerating underused brownfield land near the centre of Romford.”
A public exhibition of the plans will be held on Wednesday, May 23, from 3pm to 7pm and Thursday, May 24, from 10am to 4pm at Carrie’s Hall, Rush Green Road.
The development team will be on hand to discuss the proposals at the public exhibition at Carrie’s Hall, and to answer any queries residents and local businesses may have.
