A teacher at Havering College's Ardleigh Green campus has created an NHS-inspired sculpture, which is now being displayed at King George Hospital in Goodmayes.
New City College Havering’s electrical installation teacher Otis Griffith, who works at the Ardleigh Green campus in Hornchurch, created the metal sculpture during the the first lockdown.
He said he was inspired to make it by doctors, nurses and other key workers after taking part in the regular Clapping for the NHS on a Thursday evening.
Alex Skinner, who works at King George Hospital, where it is now on display, said: “It is a truly beautiful creation and it is one of the only things that both inspires me and lifts my spirits each and every time I see it."
Mr Griffith, who is a self-taught sculptor, added: “I am so pleased they like the sculpture and it is lifting spirits during these hard times.”
