A Tesco superstore has reopened after it was briefly shut this morning following a gas leak.
Social media users claimed the Roneo Corner Store in Hornchurch Road was closed at around 10.30am today (May 21) with the shop’s security barring shoppers from going in.
A Tesco spokesperson confirmed that the store had a small gas leak in one of the refrigeration units and had to close for some time.

They said: “Our Romford Extra store is open as normal following a brief closure earlier this morning due to a small gas leak on one of the refrigeration units.
“We apologise for the inconvenience.”
An ambulance was also seen outside the store, but the spokesperson clarified that it was completely unrelated to the gas leak and was called briefly as a staff member felt unwell.
