A Brentwood restaurant has been named among the top 100 places in the country for brunch and Sunday lunch.

Lot Bar & Restaurant at 71-75 Hutton Road in Shenfield, Brentwood, was chosen based on more than 1.2 million reviews submitted this year on OpenTable.

OpenTable is an online reservation service that allows people to book seats at bars and restaurants across the UK.

The Brentwood family-run business provides contemporary European and British food, including its famed roasts, as well as three-course celebration dinners.

It has received more than 400 reviews, most of them favourable, on Google, including from diner Sam.

"Such great food, the nicest staff and a fab atmosphere consistently," Sam said.

Another reviewer, Martin, who gave it five stars, said he always enjoyed eating there and the portions were generous.

Essex had two other winners: Mad Dogs & Englishmen in Leigh-on-Sea and The Anchor Danbury in Chelmsford.
